The Red Herring coffeehouse
Steve Crowe ran the Red Herring for just one semester (September-December, 1971). He and Russ performed as a duo at the Red Herring's Folk Fest in November, and had songs written by Russ on both of their 1971 albums.
In October of 1971 Russ first met Jennie Fields, who at the time was a sophomore at the University of Illinois. Thirty-two years later they married, and now divide their time between Nashville, TN and Portland, ME.
